Wai

 

Wai, a famous yet not so popular place compared to the Maharashtra's own hill station- Mahabaleshwar.
Commonly known by the devotees for the Ganapati temple, Wai have more to offer than that.

The 'Nana Fadanavis Wada (Palace)' and the surrounding 'Ghat' where the ending of the hindi popular movie 'Swades' was shot is extremely good place to visit.

Dhom dam, a miniature look-alike of Ladakha's dam also got couple of shots from movie 'Swades' is another popular destination. Though if your prefer to visit a bit isolated place, then 'Balkawadi Dam' is worth a visit. Bit far, around 30kms from Wai is not so visited place is a must to see especially around or after monsoon. We sighted lots of peacocks enroute.
